OS X Tip

A quick tip for OS X users. A list of recently accessed apps is a handy thing to have. You can add a Stack full of the last few apps you used to the Dock by opening up Terminal and typing (or pasting):

defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-others -array-add ‘{ “tile-data” = { “list-type” = 1; }; “tile-type” = “recents-tile”; }’

Hit Enter then type:

killall Dock

You’ll now have a new Stack, next to Downloads and Documents with your favourite apps in it.

It came to mind for me as I’m just writing a tips feature for Macworld – and needed to test this in Mountain Lion. It works, by the way.
